With respect to the objectives of the current project, the following EU RTD projects have to be mentioned as the best representatives: COACH (Component Based Open Source Architecture for Distributed Telecom Applications, see also MODA-TEL) - an open source implementation based on the CORBA Component Model and realised as a framework intended for telecom applications.
The COMBINE project (COMponent Based INteroperable enterprise system development) targets a component-based development covering such non-functional aspects as scalability and interoperability. The MASTER project (Model-driven Architecture inSTrumentation, Enhancement and Refinement) focuses on model-driven architectures and complexity aspects.
Net working issues fulfilling the demands for interoperability are targeted in the P2P ARCHITECT (Ensuring dependability of P2P applications at ARCHITECTural level) project.
